“Classic” Portraiture

January 12th, 2008

Most people who I’ve met don’t like to be photographed or don’t think they’re photogenic.  Now I understand why.

VWC Mother Daughter Breakfast

January 9th, 2008

Okay I’m a little late on this post but I wanted to share some of my favorite photos anyway.  I photographed my church’s Mother Daughter Breakfast which was held at the Hilton Atlanta NE (also known as the Castle on the Hill) on Dec 15.  Both the pastor and her daughter spoke about nurturing relationships from their point of view.  Everyone in the audience had to write why they loved their mother or daughter and what was special about her.  It was great to see some of the ladies reaction to what the other wrote.  I encourage you to stop right now and hand write your mom or daughter or both a note about why they are so special.

Happy New Year!

January 1st, 2008

My husband, Nathan, & I went hiking at Sweetwater Creek State Park.  I heard about the ruins there and wanted to check it out.  The ruins used were a textile mill built by slaves for the New Manchester Manufacturing Company. The mill was burned down during the civil war and all the workers were taken as prisoners and sent to the north.  After the war, they were released but none ever returned to the New Manchester Manufacturing Company.

It’s funny. I was always bored to tears in my history classes. But it’s fascinating to visit a place and see the history in person.  If I were a history teacher, my class would be nothing but field trips.  A tour of European museums would have definetely livened up my art history classes.

Valerie and Laurence

September 22nd, 2007

It’s almost fall so I figured I need to catch up on my summer weddings!  On July 28, my cousin Larry and his long time girlfriend finally tied the knot.  They had a small, family wedding at Columbia Baptist Church, with many family members coming in from NYC, NJ & Chicago.  I must admit, I got hugs from more than one person I didn’t recognize and commenting on how big I had gotten.Â

Family weddings are hard because you have to work when you want to play.  But my trusty second shooter, Michelle was there to relieve me of my camera.  She shot most of the reception but here are a few of my favorites that I took on that day.
